Spring Term 2020

Happy New Year Everyone!

We hope you have had an amazing Christmas and are ready for the busy terms ahead.

Here are the important things to know which will help guide you through your Year 4 adventure. Please see links to termly newsletters at the bottom of this page for more specific details about learning and topics.

Home Learning Expectations and Routines

Home Learning will be sent home on a Thursday or Friday and will be expected back by the following Wednesday. Please complete 1 English and 1 Math piece each week.

Children will also need to practise Spellings at home too (in any fun way that you wish).

Your child will bring home a book to enjoy as a shared read. Please support your child in reading this book together at least twice per week, in addition to a book of their choice at least once (3 times all together).

Please could you sign your child's Reading Diary to say they’ve read with you. The children will be encouraged to ensure their reading log has been seen by the teacher, and will be expected to change their books themselves.

This term, Year 4 will have the opportunity to improve their swimming abilities at Plymouth Life Centre. Children will not be required to bring in a PE kit during the term, however, children will need to make sure they come to school with a clean/dry swimming kit each day. More info about swimming to follow.

This year is set to be full of engaging and exciting experiences so that all our children learn many new skills and develop their understanding across the curriculum . Your support at home is very much appreciated.

Accelerated Reader

The children are enrolled on accelerated Reader which provide comprehension quizzes.  The results of these can be viewed at home.

Children use a software program called Renaissance Place at school. This program has a special feature called Renaissance Home Connect, which you can access outside of school from any computer with an Internet connection. Renaissance Home Connect is fun and easy to use. It allows the teacher, and you to share information about children's progress in Accelerated Reader.  You can log in to Renaissance Home Connect from any computer with an Internet connection and compatible browser. Children have been given their user names and passwords.  To log in to Renaissance Home Connect Website:
