Meet our Governors
My previous experience of being a Governor was several years ago when my own children were younger. I have been a Governor at Victoria Road since June 2016. In a past life I was a Business Manager for Plymouth City Council and am now employed as an Executive Assistant for a local IT firm, Delt Shared Services.
I have lived in Plymouth since a young age and live in the west of the city.
some additional capacity and use my knowledge and skills to support the LGB at Victoria Road Primary and Nursery School.
I currently work as a Leadership Adviser for Horizon MAT, after taking early retirement from my job as Headteacher of Widewell Primary Academy. I have previously taught in lots of schools in the UK and Germany, as my husband was in the British Army before becoming a teacher himself. We have two grown up children and three very young grandchildren who keep us very busy!
I spent the majority of my career as a teacher in the Early Years, but also enjoyed teaching Y6 children when I was at Hooe Primary.
I am looking forward to supporting the Victoria Road Primary community now, both as an adviser and as a governor, and have already enjoyed listening to lots of the children talk to me about their learning.
Naomi currently works at Boringdon Primary School where she is a Year 1 teacher and is responsible for PE and Armed Forces Children. She has accumulated experience in KS1 over 6 years and has taught PE across KS2 during this time. She has a 1st class honours in Geography and a PGCE in Primary Education with PE specialism. She values the importance of healthy and active lifestyles for children and is passionate about providing all children with a high quality of teaching and learning. She is looking forward, next year, to beginning her National Professional Qualification in Leading Behaviour and Culture. In her free time, Naomi enjoys playing Netball and spending time with her little boy.
Natalie became a Parent Governor in May 2022, following her child starting at Victoria Road. Natalie currently works for the Royal Mail, within the Customer Service Department. She has a keen interest in art and design and is an experienced sign writer. Natalie is a parent of a child with special educational needs and is keen to develop parental engagement and voice in this area.
