Our Nursery Ethos

Victoria Road Nursery aims to provide a warm and reassuring atmosphere where children are encouraged to participate in a range of activities which aid in the development of their physical, intellectual, emotional and social abilities.

We feel that by providing a stimulating environment where learning is fun and rewarding your child can feel secure, valued and confident while developing a sense of achievement whilst working towards their full potential.

We understand that play is an important part of a child’s development. Playing helps young children’s brains to develop and for their language and communication skills to mature

The Nursery unit is split into two classes:

Caterpillars 2-3 year olds

This room is specifically designed to accommodate the specific needs of all children within this age group. We provide a safe and happy environment where children can grow in confidence and learn new skills. We develop learning through play and a carefully plan activities to develop physical, intellectual, emotional and social skills at their own pace and level, using developmentally appropriate activities and equipment.

Butterflies 3-4 year olds

This area is shared between the Butterfly class and Reception class and is organised to allow all the children to explore and learn securely and safely. The children have access to both inside and outside areas across the day; we believe this has a positive effect on the children’s development. We understand children learn best through play and we strongly believe in supporting children to learn through exploring a wide range of opportunities and experiences.
