Maths 20.4.20 Week 5

Maths 20.4.20 -Week 5

This week we are continuing to think about fractions. We will be using shapes this week to help us secure an understanding of fractions and some of the technical terminology, before moving on to find fractions of numbers next week.

Task 1: Recap finding a fraction of a shape using the PowerPoint. Say the fractions out aloud!  Complete the 'Shading Fractions' sheet.

Task 2: Using the fractions song, verbalise different fractions. Remind yourself of the terminology 'numerator' and 'denominator'. Work through the 'Fractions in Progress' activities.

Task 3: Begin to draw your own shapes and colour in and label a fraction. This can be done in a variety of way, chalk pictures, paint, using shapes in purplemash etc.

Task 4: Look at the equivalent fractions powerpoint. Think about the questions at the bottom of the PowerPoint and try to answer them. Using your knowledge from the PowerPoint try to complete equivalent fractions worksheet 1.

Task 5: Recap equivalent fractions from task 4, building confidence, complete equivalent worksheet 2. Think carefully about problem-solving statements. Think about how you can represent equivalent fractions in your environment.
