Hello Victoria Road Primary School,
I went to Victoria Road Primary School.
I left there in 1975 to go to Kings Tamerton Secondary to start in 1976.
I now live in Melbourne, Australia.
All the best for your future.
Thank you everyone for the lovely Christmas Concerts yesterday. Both KS1 and KS2 were very enjoyable with all my favourite songs. Well done!
I recently visited Victoria Road for a parent meeting. I was very impressed with the improvements to the school.
I was very hesitant about sending my daughter to Victoria School because of the reputation it has developed over previous years. I must say I think the new Headmaster has done a brilliant job is bringing back respect and joy to the school.
I hope it continues to improve. My daughter is very happy and the level of teaching she has received is outstanding. Thank you
Attended 1949 to 1956 and have fond memories of the school, particularly my final year when my form teacher was Toby Garland. I think the headmaster was Ewart Prior for the time I was at the school. The school served me well as I passed the 11 plus high enough to win a place at Plymouth College. Good to see that the school is still doing well.
well done to everyone who took part in todays Victoria Roads GOT TALENT. I was unable to attend today but have been able to watch some of the performances that were filmed.
Went here between 78 - 84 Best school EVER. Mr Tudor was the best teacher and Mr Pinches was the Best Head.
A pupil who attended from 1937 to about 1942 Can recall my teacher was a Miss Partridge and I lived in Sunnydene very close to the school. Good to see its still thriving
i miss the school,i had fun there and miss everyone :-)
i will come for a visit soon to see everyoung
I have not missed the school so far as at map we learn far more but that may be because its a secondary school but i have missed mrs tree-bee/mrs bee-tree (sorry cant spell it right!) and mrs mildon also mrs kennedy as these were my 3 favorite teachers and were very supportive of us!
Thanks to some of the KS1 multi skills children who let me join in with a few games this afternoon. You all did some great catching and worked hard.
best school in the would
vicky road i love and will be sending my daughter there do miss Mr McDonald :(
Back in the early 1960's the school was really fun. We would play our recorders in the assembly hall and ride an old bus to Central Park for swimming lessons.
I was a pupil at this school from 19876ish to 1995, has some good times there and I distinctly remember the School Choir winning the Devon Schools and South West Schools Choir championships for 7 years running, 4 of which myself and a lot of my class mates were involved in. Don't know how much place has changed since I left though.
I found your website while making enquiries on the internet about Plymouth schools. I see you went several times to Brest and Britanny. I am living there. Your school looks very attractive and lively.

hello the best school in the world
My time at Victoria Road was from 1945-1951
Sad to tell because of the sort of child I was, my time at the school was not the best of times. My first teacher was Miss May, and we started of with a chalk and slate.Miss Barns was head of infants and Mr Pryor head of the junior school I think I can remember the names of most of the other teachers of that time in both the infants and juniors. One memory that stands out is when we were issued with beautiful box wood rulers and new pencils, this was the first time we had any thing new after the war. By the time Miss Young the teacher had finished handing out these new shiny goodies one boy managed to snap both his new ruler and pencil. I think he had never had any thing new in his life and that is all he could think to do with them. I did enjoy the little bottles of milk we had each day. In winter time they would be placed on the heating pipes to warm them before we drank them with a straw.
My best wishes to all the staff and children.
ye its not bad viccky road im in yr 6RE its pretty cool ya know
I left in 2006, oh my god, such good memories at this school!
Hi Victoria Park Road Primary. Juat wanted to leave a quick note to say how friendly and great your school office staff are. I called up with information about an upcoming conference and the service and help I had was excellent. They are a credit to your school. Thanks for your time.
Wow how the school has changed. I left in 1981. I have many a fond memory of VRPS. I see the outside toilets, canteen block and separate girls and boys playgrounds are a thing of the past. it looks beautiful now. Keep up the fantastic gardening projects.
Delightful site..what a difference to the time I spent at the school from 1937 to 1944
I remember the days of WW2 when Lady Astor came to the school to give us a small token from the USA..so small I cant remember what it was..Also the wooden building installed to take the overload of school children from bombed out schools in Devonport.. it was in the corner of the boys playground top right hand corner..it did not last long as a German incendiary bomb hit it and it burnt down.. The days we spent in the shelter. under the boys playground. Wednesdays was a time when we all boarded.. a bus to take swimming lessons at Mount Wise.. The Bell tolling to make us run to school so we would not be late.. Soccer days when we were taken some where behind Camels Head school to play football... so long ago.. Sigh..It was at times a happy life
Glad to see your web site
