Times Tables

This term is super important for times tables with the test happening in June, so we need to do as much practise as possible. Each Friday, children are completing a small quiz on a targeted times table and then given their next one when they score well. Please support your children in their weekly times tables, particularly in their speed of answering.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you are unsure of how best to support them.

Maths

This term, we will be developing our understanding of decimals and fractions, relating them to our daily lives. We will then move on to understanding how to read analog and digital clocks, and converting from the 12- hour clock, to the 24-hour clock. We will then move on to using money, understanding shapes, creating and understanding graphs and tables, and finally describing position and direction of movement.

Accelerated Reader

The children are enrolled on accelerated Reader which provide comprehension quizzes.  The results of these can be viewed at home.

Children use a software program called Renaissance Place at school. This program has a special feature called Renaissance Home Connect, which you can access outside of school from any computer with an Internet connection. Renaissance Home Connect is fun and easy to use. It allows the teacher, and you to share information about children's progress in Accelerated Reader.  You can log in to Renaissance Home Connect from any computer with an Internet connection and compatible browser. Children have been given their user names and passwords.

English

This term, the children will be drawing on the many skills they have been learning and practising. They will work to create their own portal story, a cinquain, and an information text.

Handwriting is incredibly important aspect of the children's writing. It supports them in not only sharing their ideas well, but also fine control with their hands, spelling and their speed when recording their ideas. The children are working incredibly hard to make their writing the best that it can be, any opportunities for them to write at home would be fantastic. Please reach out if you would like any guidance or resources for supporting them in this.

Year 3 & 4 Spellings list

PE

In the summer term, our PE will continue to be on both Thursday and Friday afternoons so please send children into school wearing their PE kit for PE.

Please could you send your child to school with a drinks bottle each day. As the weather gets warmer, we will be using the outdoor space more often, so keeping hydrated will be very important.

Children need to wear a white or blue PE top or school top.  A school jumper. black or blue track suit bottoms or leggings.  Suitable trainers for PE.  However, children must wear a school jumper and not any hoodie or top that is not a school jumper or a school top or PE top.
