Hello and welcome to Year Four!
Class Teacher: MrBaxter
Teaching Assistant: Mrs Treeby
In the Meerkat class, we try to help every child to feel safe, happy and excited about learning and facing new challenges.
Here is some more information about our class (please see links to termly newsletters at the bottom of this page for more specific details about learning and topics)
Home Learning Expectations and Routines
Home Learning will be sent home on a Wednesday and will be expected back by the following Wednesday – there will be a grid of activities to be completed, for your child to choose from over the term. Please complete 1 English and Maths piece each week.
Children will also need to practise Spellings at home too (in any fun way that you wish). Thank you for your support with spelling practice. The children are being super-creative! For example Kaytlyn combined her spelling skills with her breakfast-eating skills:
Evie went with the autumn theme for her spellings:
Your child will bring home a book to enjoy as a shared read. Please support your child in reading this book together at least twice per week, in addition to a book of their choice at least once (3 times all together).
Please could you sign their Reading Diary to say they’ve read with you. This will ensure they move up the ‘Deep Sea Reading’ board. The children will be encouraged to ensure their reading log has been seen by the teacher, and will be expected to change their books themselves.
P.E. days are on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Many of these sessions take place outdoors whenever possible. Please try to make sure your child is able to take part safely and comfortably, by having an appropriate kit for the weather. Please refer to the Spring term newsletter below for details of swimming this term.
This year is set to be full of engaging and exciting experiences so that all our children learn many new skills and develop their understanding across the curriculum . Your support at home is very much appreciated.
