Year 2

Hello and welcome to Year Two!

Class Teacher: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday- Mrs Brinkhurst

Class Teacher: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday- Miss Bates

Teaching Assistant: Mrs Petrie

Welcome back to school and welcome to Year 2.  We are really looking forward to getting started on a very exciting, action packed term!  There are lots of new things to learn and new things to experience on our learning journey.

In term 1, our topic will be based upon healthy eating and in term 2, we will be immersing ourselves in traditional tales!  Please see the curriculum newsletter below for further details of this term's exciting curriculum.

We will not be having a class assembly this term, so we would like to invite you in to the classroom to take part in your child's learning.  The first of these is a visit from the lovely people at Warburtons bakery on Wednesday 4th October.  You are invited to come in to help your child make a delicious healthy sandwich.  There's usually lots of lovely freebies to take home too.  We would also like to invite you in to a Three Little Pigs house building workshop where The Big Bad Wolf will be huffing and puffing to try and blow the houses down! There will be tea and coffees at both these workshops.  Alongside this, we will be visiting the theatre to see 'The Enormous Turnip' a very well loved traditional tale.

Please support with the children's home learning, particularly spellings and hearing your child read regularly.  We are encouraging children to change their books everyday and they are very keen to work towards their reading certificates!

We are all really looking forward to our learning journey together this year.

Autumn Term Curriculum Newsletter 2017

Dear parents and carers,

The children in Y2 will be using a website to support their reading this year which you are able to access from home on most devices that have internet access, including phones.  They really enjoy these books and they are just getting used to using the website in school.  Please could you continue to support their reading by helping them access the website at home.  This does not replace reading books sent home, it is an enjoyable supplement to reading actual books and it has other aspects to help learning e.g. comprehension questions by clicking on the story bugs and activities linked to the stories.

UN: Your child’s Christian name and surname (no spaces, no capital letters)

PW: Your child’s Christian name (no capital letters)

School Code: HWXA

Your child’s User Name (UN) and Password (PW) will be stuck in their reading diary.  There will also be a link to Bug Club on the Victoria Road Website, at the bottom of the Y2 class page.  Thank you for your continued support.

Happy reading,

The Y2 team
