We hope you will enjoy our new Website and finding all about our school. We look forward to working with you so that together we can provide the best education for your child. We thank you for your interest in our friendly, caring school and extend a warm welcome to children, parents, carers and families of children who wish to find out more about us. This website is intended to give information about the life, organisation, aims of our school and achievements of our pupils. Our aim is to provide a caring, learning community for all our children. Our booklet, which can be downloaded in its entirety, should answer any of your questions but please ask if there is anything, which is not clear or has been left out. Our new online prospectus gives you a flavor of what this school is about.
At Victoria Road Primary School, we promote children’s learning, development and achievement, hoping to instil a lifelong love and capacity for learning. In our Vision, every child is valued and respected. We want all learners to benefit from high standards of teaching which support this achievement, stimulate creativity and promote wellbeing. Our Curriculum has been developed to enable children to experience a rich, diverse and stimulating curriculum which enables them to succeed and thrive in a just and sustainable world. Children have a right to enjoy, achieve and take an active part in their own learning. Teachers and support staff have a right to teach and feel job satisfaction. We aim to work mutually with parents and carers to meet a child’s distinct needs. The Governing Body works effectively as a strategic “critical friend”, both supporting and challenging school policy, practice and improvements. Victoria Road works with The TamarFolk Children’s Centre, Early Birds Nursery and other Agencies such as Health, The Police, Social Care, The Voluntary Sector and Higher Education to share our knowledge and language about teaching, learning and child development.
We have important links with Child Adolescent Mental Health, the Primary Care Trust, National Health Service and Safeguarding Agencies. We aim to have a consistency of practice underpinned by the Every Child Matters principles and a broad, but balanced curriculum provision, as we strive to provide the full core of service provision. We look forward to constructive comments either on the Guest Book or in the Compliments Box in school in the main foyer. We welcome you to our school environment and hope you enjoy the place as much as we do.
